What is PBS?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a proactive, evidence-based approach that helps people build better ways of responding to the world, while also supporting the people around them.
Instead of focusing only on “challenging behaviour,” PBS looks deeper.

It helps us understand what a person is trying to communicate, what’s triggering distress, and what positive strategies can help meet their needs in safer, more supported ways.

PBS isn’t just about reducing behaviours
It's about:
-
Promoting dignity and safety.
-
Strengthening relationships.
-
Building new skills.
-
Creating environments that set people up to thrive.
What does our PBS process involve?
At Well Life, we begin with an initial consultation and assessment.
From there, we develop a Positive Behaviour Support Plan that includes:
Client-centred planning
based on individual strengths, needs, and goals.
Functional Behaviour Assessment
to identify what’s driving certain behaviours.
Environment modifications
to reduce triggers and improve day-to-day experiences.
Skill-building strategies
to support regulation, communication, and autonomy.
Collaborative support
with families, carers, and staff.
Understanable, clear plans
with step-by-step strategies.
Ongoing reviews
and reporting to make sure appropriate supports continue.
We’re here for the long term,
not just a one-off appointment.
